Obituary of Rebecca Ann "Becky" Michael

Rebecca Ann “Becky” Michael, 60, of White Hall passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Fairmont on December 11, 1958, the daughter of Donald and Mary Jo Tinder Lilley. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, John Jay Michael.

Becky was a 1977 graduate of East Fairmont High School and earned an Associate Degree in Health Information Tech from Fairmont State College. She had attended the Tree of Life Church and previously attended Trinity Assembly of God both in Fairmont.  Becky had worked at Digital Equipment in Westover, as well as a medical transcriptionist at the Fairmont Clinic.  Upon having her children, she chose to become a stay at home mother and became devoted to their upbringing. 

Becky suffered a life of illnesses, she battled juvenile type 1 diabetes for over 54 years. She was forever grateful to her brother Greg for the gift of his kidney in a transplant that she was able to survive on for the rest of her life.  She later received a subsequent pancreatic transplant.  Becky’s battle ended with pancreatic cancer on her 60th birthday with her husband and children at her bedside.

Becky truly enjoyed caring for her feline friends, they held a special place in her heart.  She was a collector of Fiesta ware, she and her husband often attended the tent sales in Flatwoods, as well as in Newell.  She developed several friendships with other local collectors and enjoyed sharing and comparing collections.  Becky was a dedicated mother to her two children, she spent most of their childhoods following them around and supporting them in baseball, basketball, and was a true cheer mom in her devotion to their happiness and support.  Becky will be greatly missed by her husband and children who loved her so much and are so greatful to have had her in their lives and been a part of hers. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Rebecca is survived by her son, Cameron Michael of White Hall; her daughter, Caitlyn Michael of White Hall; her brother, Greg Lilley of Fairmont; nieces and nephews, Zachary Lilley and his wife Cindy of Barrackville, Corey Lilley of Clarksburg, Mandy Michael and her husband Pat Amick of Houston, TX, Jessica Michael Patti and her husband Chris of Morgantown, and Veronica Fragale of Clarksburg;  and her beloved great nieces of whom she had a special fondness and always lifted her spirit, Joanna Lilley and Savanah Lilley.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Joe and Juanita Michael

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6p.m. until 8p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Greg Lilley officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her husband John, her son Cameron, Zachary Lilley, Corey Lilley, Dana O’Dell, and Chris Patti.  A committal service will follow at Clermont Cemetery.
