Obituary of William Franklin Stanley
William Franklin Stanley, 89, of Levels Road Community, went to his reward on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his residence after a long bout with cancer. Born on February 11, 1929 to the late Lloyd and Lucy Ellen (Travis) Stanley.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War who in civilian life worked as a welder and mechanic at Clem’s Spring Service, W.S. Thomas, Alcan Aluminum, Consol #9 Mine, Eastern Federal #2 Mine and over 20 years as a mechanic, maintenance boss and shop foreman for AEP at Martinka #1 Mine.
He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Grant Stanley, a younger sister Minnie Lucille (Stanley) Walker and his wife of 66 years Marilyn June (Erdie) Stanley.
He is survived by sons William Lloyd and his wife Jo Ann Stanley of Fairmont, Mark David Stanley of Levels Community and Brian Glenn Stanley of Levels Community; his grandchildren Jessica Dawn and her husband Josiah Batten with William Harold Stanley and great-granddaughter Nyssa Eleanor Batten. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jonnie (Erdie) Friend, brother-in-law James Erdie of Indiana, brother-in-law Robert Walker of Fairview, niece Judith Sanders as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 3:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, December 7, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Jim Zinn officiating.
