Obituary of Janet Joy Ward

     Mrs. Janet Joy Ward, 86 of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Brookdale Maplewood Assisted Living.  She was born January 15, 1932 in Cincinnati, OH the daughter of the late John and Mildred Parker Burke.  She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. George Ward II in 2005.

     She is survived by three sons, Dr. Michael Ward and wife Nina of Spring, TX, Geoffrey Ward and wife Tina of Medan, Indonesia and John Ward of Suisun, CA; one daughter Diane Tarantini and husband Tony of Morgantown, WV; one sister Pat Flynn and husband Leo of Chandler, AZ; seven grandchildren Rachel Ward, Jon-Michael Ward, Paul Ward, Micah Ward, Josy Hu, Cody Brook Tarantini and Tre Tarantini and two great grandchildren Malaya Ward and Josiah Ward.

     Mrs. Ward graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School and worked for several hospitals including Cabell Huntington Hospital.  She was an avid gardener and loved animals.  She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds out her window with her cat, Rosie.  Janet was a faithful member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church and recently was attending their satellite service at Brookdale Maplewood.

     The family requests donations be made in their mother’s memory to either Amedisys Home Health Care, 67 Casino Drive, Suite 104, Anmoore, WV 26323 or Humane Society of Harrison County, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431.
