Obituary of Pearl Ruth Youtzy Gooden

Pearl Ruth Youtzy Gooden, 82, of Jane Lew, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. Pearl was born in Elkins on October 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Paul Theodore Youtzy and Margaret Alice Jones Youtzy Summerfield. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frederick David Gooden Jr.

Pearl is survived by six sons, David Gooden (Jane), Harold Gooden Sr. (Sandra), Eldoris “Boo” Gooden (Linda), Tom Gooden (Shiela), Daniel Gooden and Robert Gooden Sr. (Cindy); six daughters, Elsie Ford, Mary Ann Lipscomb (Bud), Vi “Sis” Carter, Rose Crocker, Robin Harper, Elsie “Pickle” Matheny (Lynn); two sisters, Thelma Bennett and Jerry Gladwell; and many nieces and nephews. She was the proud grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother of 150 children.

In addition to her husband and parents, Pearl was preceded in death by a son, Lester Gooden; three brothers, six sisters and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Gooden was employed for many years in the restaurant and housekeeping industry. She was a member of Lifepointe Church of Clarksburg and enjoyed bingo, shopping, crossword puzzles, bowling and playing cards with family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Monday, August 13, 2018, from 12 noon until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Morgan officiating.
