Obituary of David Milton Pownell

David Milton Pownell, 68, of Rivesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Genesis Pierpont Center in Fairmont. David was born in Baxter on June 9, 1950, a son of the late Howard Pownell and Gladys Viola Sigley Pownell. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Eloise Conrad Pownell.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by a son, David Aaron Pownell of Rivesville; two daughters, Amy Nichols and her husband Howard of Rivesville and Tracie Eagle and her husband Jeffery of Fairmont; several grandchildren, including 3 whom he was close with, Stephanie, Gary and Hunter; two great grandchildren, Maverick “Bubba” and Diva; two brothers, Richard Pownell of Hedgesville and John “Bob” Pownell and his wife Renee of Rivesville; two sisters, Carol McCulley and her husband Victor of Fairmont and Nancy Shipley and her husband Lee of Fairmont; a sister-in-law, Darlene Sigley of Fairmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Pownell; two brothers, Ted Sigley and Clark Pownell; a sister, Dortha Yost; a brother-in-law, Eugene Yost; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Pownell and Sue Pownell.

Mr. Pownell worked in construction in his younger years and retired from the Water Department for the City of Fairmont. He attended the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Fairmont and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, working in his garden and cutting wood.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second St., Rivesville, WV 26588, on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, July 21, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Abersold officiating.
