Obituary of Maurice Delano Savage II
Maurice Delano Savage II, 27, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born December 25, 1988 in Fort Sill, OK the son of Maurice Delano Savage of Houston, TX & Rae Savage of Fairmont, WV. He is survived by his wife Tamaria Davis Savage of New York.
He is survived by a sister Maya Savage of Kileen, TX and two grandmothers Brenda H. Lumpkin of Fairmont, WV & Barbara Rayford of Detroit, MI.
Maurice was an Honorably Discharged Veteran from the United States Army where he served 6 years & 2 tours in Afghanistan. He was a combat veteran, paratrooper & a part of the Special Forces. Mr. Savage was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fairmont, enjoyed helping with the Vacation Bible School & Children’s Ministry, a high school graduate in Columbia SC and attended Fairmont State University. He was a volunteer coach for the Morning Star Church Basketball Team.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 135 Maple Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554 with Pastor Kevin L. Carpenter & Pastor Wesley Q. Dobbs officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be held in the church by the Military Veterans Council of Marion County. A private committal service will be held at a later time in the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holley, MI 48442.
