Obituary of Richard Lee Snider

     Mr. Richard Lee Snider, 87 years of age of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at West Virginia University Hospitals, Ruby Memorial in Morgantown, WV.  He was born June 24, 1930 in Blandville, WV, the son of the late Friend C. and Nelle P. Darrah Snider.

     He is survived by his wife Lois White Snider.  They had celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.  He is also survived by his children James and Amy Weatherwax Snider of Bridgeport, WV, John and Sherry Forren Snider of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Susan Snider Oakman and her husband Tyson of Bridgeport, WV; two brothers William and Judith Snider of Pittsburgh, PA and Thomas Snider of Bridgeport, WV; eight grandchildren Leah M. Snider, Sarah E. Snider-Light and her husband Maj Ryan Q. Light, Sean C. Snider, Steven R. Snider and his wife Brittany, Troy T. Snider, Sabrina A. Snider, Trevor C. Snider and Payton E. Oakman and four great grandchildren Wesley D. Conley, Maddox J. Conley, Emma Q. Light and Anders J. Light.  He was also preceded in death by a sister Ethel Jeanne Snider.

    Mr. Snider graduated from Doddridge County High and in 1951 enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base and later at Youngstown Air Force Base with the 86th Fighter Wing Division.  He worked on the new F84 Thunder Fighter Jets.  

     He retired with 43 years of service from Consolidated Natural Gas Company and worked in the Land Department.  He was a 50 year member of Late Lodge 63 A.F.&A.M. in Bridgeport and also the Bridgeport United Methodist Church.

     The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to West Virginia University Children’s Hospital, 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV, 26506.  They would like the gift of their father’s memory to assist others.

     Friends will be received at Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Tuesday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and at Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV on Wednesday from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM.  The funeral service will be celebrated in the church on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Dale C. Waters presiding.  The interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV. 

     Members of Late Lodge #63 A.F.&A.M. will assemble at the lodge at 10:00 AM for the purpose of attending the funeral service and conducting ritualistic graveside services.
