Obituary of Lawrence "Dick" Martin

Lawrence “Dick” Martin, 75, of Baxter, WV, passed away early Wednesday morning in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.   He was born November 17, 1942 in Marion County, WV, son of the late Mancel Jr. and Helen Louise Carpenter Martin.   Dick was a Methodist by faith.   He was a construction worker with 28 years of service.   He retired in 1998 after belonging to Labor Union 379 in Morgantown, WV.   Dick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.   He was also an avid walker at the Middletown Mall.   Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Wilson of Baxter, WV,   2 daughters, Chriss Russell of Baxter, WV and Joyce and her husband Jeff Sypolt of Morgantown, WV,   3 grandchildren, Mark and Brittany Russell of Fairmont, WV, Kayla Russell of Fairmont, WV, and Justin Sypolt of Morgantown, WV,   A sister, Linda Tralla and Ed Norman both of New Philadelpia, OH,   A brother, Mancel and his wife Cathy Martin of Fairmont, WV, and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert Martin and Ray “Sonny” Martin.   Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper St., Rivesville, WV from 2pm until 8pm on Friday and 11am until 1pm on Saturday.   Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday afternoon at 1pm, with Pastor Duane Stiles officiating.   Burial will follow in McCurdysville Cemtery in McCurdysvlle ,WV.   On line condolences may be made to www.FORDFUNERALHOMES.com.
