Obituary of Leanna R Wright

Leanna R. (Staley) Wright, age 86 of Oakmont, PA, formerly of Morgantown, WV, passed away December 20, 2017. She was born January 17, 1931 in Bowling Green, IN, the daughter of the late Emily Ruth Brown and Donald R. Staley and graduated from Bowling Green High School.

She was the most gracious, loving, and faithful servant of the Lord and lived most of her adult life as a minister’s wife. She worked as a secretary in various places, a law office, insurance company, several churches and District offices, and retired as a WV University Honor’s Program secretary.

She was well known for her amazing faith, her overwhelming hospitality to others and her incredible baked goods. She lived to entertain and feed people and lived up to her nickname “the Energizer bunny”. She was a talented seamstress and loved to crochet, cross-stitch, and do crafts. Music was also an important part of her life. She played the piano and was in the church Hand bell choirs. She was an active member of all of the churches her husband served and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by the beloved husband, Rev. Dr. Richard L. Wright. Loving mother of Lanell Y. Johnson and husband Lonnie, Douglas K. Wright, Lanita B. Myers and husband David, and Darren S. Wright and wife Connie. Loving grandmother of Kristin N. Wright, Leland W. Johnson, Landon C. Johnson, Lauren E. Myers, Drew R. Myers, Emma L. Wright, and Keaton J. Wright. Sister to Donald Staley.

Visiting hours for Leanna Wright will take place Thursday, December, 28 from 10am – 2:00pm at Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330. The Memorial services celebrating her life will immediately follow at 2:00pm presided by Rev. Dr. Ken Ramsey, with a brief graveside burial at Bridgeport Cemetery.
