Obituary of Jack Bish
Jack Bish, 82, of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at his home. He was born on July 5, 1933 at the family home on Pleasant Valley Road, a son of the late George Bish and Virginia Beltch Bish Berle. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Ernie Berle.
Jack graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1951 and served two years in the United States Marines Corps. He worked his entire life in the family grocery business, Berle’s Market.
As a young man, Jack was active in various civic organizations. He was a lifelong member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, involved in the business of the Valley Volunteer Fire Department, volunteered as a driver for cancer patients, and delivered Meals on Wheels.
In 1995, he helped to organize the first government of P.V. which resulted in the incorporation of Pleasant Valley. He was the first mayor of Pleasant Valley and elected four times.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn DiTosti Bish; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Bish and John Marunich; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herbert and Mabel Tosti, Robert and Carol DiTosti, Stanley Kerens and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger “Buck” Bish; sister, Sandy Kerens; sister-in-law, Virginia Hill and niece, Susie Cain.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1511 Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jim Norton and Reverend Andrew Tennant officiating.
