Obituary of Robert Earl Moran
Mr. Robert Earl Moran, 81 years of age of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Thursday, July 06, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 30, 1936 in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late Mearl Thomas and Roxie Mae LeHew Moran.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Howard Moran. They had celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. He is also survived by a son Robert Earl Moran, Jr and his wife Brenda of Bridgeport, WV; a daughter Vickie Lynn Moran Odegard of Phoenix, AZ; a grandson Trevor Scott Moran of Fairmont, WV; two sisters Kathleen Moran Cain and Derotha Jean Moran Corbin of Fairmont, WV; a brother-in-law Donald Howard and his wife Donna of Severna Park, MD and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister Louise Moran Stewart.
Bob made a career in banking and retired with thirty-nine years of service working in Fairmont and Bridgeport. While working at First National Bank in Fairmont, he served as an executive vice-president until 1987 when he was elected president of Bridgeport Bank, known now as Wesbanco. For the last thirteen years, he was a familiar face as an employee at Kroger’s on Emily Drive.
He was a 1953 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and then graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He furthered his studies with a degree from School of Consumer Banking at the University of Virginia. He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force from 1953 – 1957 in Germany.
When Bob and Maxine were raising their children, many weekends consisted of camping, fishing and golfing. Bob enjoyed spending time playing golf and cards with friends. He and his wife were life time members of the Fairmont Field Club.
Bob was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and a former Noble of the Mystic Shrine, Nemesis Temple of Parkersburg, WV. He enjoyed his time supporting Shriners Children’s Hospitals and the Shriners Corvette Unit.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Monday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM to celebrate Bob’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob’s memory to COPD Research, COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce DeLeon Blvd., Miami, FL 33134.
