Obituary of Terry L. Snider

Terry L. Snider, 87, of Commerce, Michigan, formerly of Fairmont, WV, passed away early Monday morning, April 17, 2017. He was born February 9, 1930 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late Lutzie C. and Rena Marie Miller Snider. He was preceded in death by his wife Glenna May Whitecotton Snider in 1976. Mr. Snider was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. Early in life he attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1951 and later served in the National Guard in Marion County, WV. Mr. Snider worked as an automobile mechanic in Fairmont with Tarlton Motors, Fairmont Ave. and Third St., Fairmont, WV, with over 25 years of service. He enjoyed fishing trips, being an active bee keeper, working with his garden and flowers, and very much enjoyed all family activites. Terry was a great story teller as many people enjoyed listening to his tales. Survivors include a son, Arnold Jackson ”Buck” and his wife Christine Snider of Commerce, MI, 3 daughters; Terry Maylene Snider Gorman and her husband Louis “Steve” of Grant Town, WV, Debra Gaye Snider Rowan and her husband John of Fairview, WV, and Cathy Marie Snider Piercy and her husband Charles “Chuck” of Philippi, WV, a sister, Lois Lavern Snider Collins of Florida, a daughter-in-law, Lynnette Snider of Waterford, MI, a niece, Sheila Snider Radcliff and her husband Jack of Mannington, WV, 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sons; Ikey Lindsey Snider, Dana Alexander Snider, and Ted Lee Snider, 2 brothers, Gale Leo Snider and Glen Russell Snider, and 2 nephews, Gale Eugene Snider and Allen “Dean” Snider. Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 3pm until 8pm on Monday and 11am until 1pm on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday, 4-25-2017, at 1pm, with Pastor Bill Rager officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont, WV.
