Obituary of Raymond Spencer Friend
Raymond Spencer Friend, 74, of Stonewall Road, Fairmont, WV, passed away Sunday morning in his residence. He was born on February 20, 1943 in Fairmont, a son of the late Carl Edward Friend and Louise Ona Wolfe Friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Jean Ciszewski Friend.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his son, Raymond Spencer Friend Jr. and his wife Paula; a daughter, Loretta Dove and her husband Steven Henry; four grandchildren, Tabatha Dove Baker and her companion Cris Rowan, Mitchel Don Baker and his companion Danielle Anderson, Amy Katherine Merrill and her husband Dustin and Sara Ashley Martin and her husband Jared; a great grandson, Baker Linn Rowan; a brother, James Edward Friend; a sister, Karen Sue Rauer; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Friend was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Rose Friend; a brother, Carl Sandy Friend; a brother-in-law, Lanny Max Rauer and a sister-in-law, Betty Friend.
Raymond was a graduate of State Street Elementary, East Fairmont High School, Marion County Vocational Technical Center, Fairmont State College Machine Shop Practice and NRI Color Television Servicing. He worked as a salesman for Royal Crown/NEHI Bottling Co. and retired as maintenance machinist at Westinghouse and Philips Lighting Co. Raymond was a member of Fairmont Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M. and IUE-CWA Local 627.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Justin Wright officiating.
