Obituary of Robert Eugene Watkins

Robert Eugene Watkins, 80, of Adena, OH, formerly of the Benton’s Ferry Community, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Sienna Hills Nursing Home, in Adena, OH. He was born January 16, 1937 in Benton’s Ferry, WV a son of the late Raymer Lee and Mary Isabelle Fortney Watkins. Mr. Watkins was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. He completed machine shop courses beyond high school. Robert served with the United States Army during the Korean Occupation as a machinist. He was member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Meadowdale where he had been a youth leader. He worked as a machinist by trade in the Marion County area. Robert enjoyed hunting and trapping as well as fishing in West Virginia. In his retirement years he resided with the Sienna Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Adena, OH. Robert is survived by his brothers, Paul Vernon Watkins of Fairmont, and Raymer Dale Watkins of Arizona, his sister, M. Madeline Nuzum Bradford of Ohio, his sister-in-law, Mary L. Watkins of White Hall WV, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers James Allen Watkins and Arthur Lee Watkins. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Graveside committal services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 1PM with Pastor Bill Toothman officiating at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, WV.
