Obituary of Jack Ronald Hawkins

Jack Ronald Hawkins, 90, of Buckhannon, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Holbrook on the Hill Nursing Home. Jack was born in Fairmont on December 21, 1926, a son of the late William Ervin Hawkins and Sarah Stretchberry Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen “Lucille” Deabler Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins is survived by his son, Bill Hawkins and his wife Patricia of China Grove, NC; his daughters, Ronna Prendergast of Dayton, OH and Brenda Kay Wachob and her husband Leonard of Buckhannon; five grandchildren, Kevin Prendergast, Aaron Prendergast, Jamie Hudson, Brandi Hawkins and Brian Wachob; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, William E. Hawkins Jr. and his sistes, Libby Hall, Christina Williams, Ruth Morris, Margie Rogers and Mary Ellen Adams. Mr. Hawkins was a humble, hardworking man as well as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked at Owens-Illinois for over 35 years and then for the City of Fairmont/ Marion County for many years up to his retirement. Jack loved watching the WVU football and basketball teams. The family requests memorial donations be made in Jack’s memory to the American Heart Association, West Virginia Region, 162 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. A committal service will follow at Mt.
