Obituary of Thomas Edward Hanigan

Thomas Edward Hanigan, 97, of Fairmont, passed away on January 11, 2017 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center, Fairmont, WV. He was born July 18, 1919 in Marion County, WV a son of the late Shirley and Bessie Willis Hannigan. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Bryant Hanigan. Mr. Hanigan was a graduate of Romney School for the blind. He owned his own contracting business and built many homes around the Fairmont area. He and his wife lived for twenty years in Tucson, Arizona. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He was proud to have been a lifeguard and helped many blind children learn to swim in Romney, WV. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: David William Lemasters, of Scottdale, PA; John Martin and his wife Misty Lemasters of Rock Lake; Timothy Shawn Hanigan of Fairmont; and Thomas Edward, Jr. and his wife Amanda Hanigan of Fairmont. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Cynthia Renee Lemasters, Kendra Noel Lemasters, Paige Nichole Lemasters, Mackenzie Renee Hanigan, and Natalie Jayne Hanigan In addition to his parents, he is preceeded in death by his brother, Robert L. Callahan, and his sister, Margaret Virginia Hanigan. The Hanigan family has entrusted the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont with cremation services.
