Obituary of Vonda Fay Freeman
Vonda Fay Freeman, 93, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Goldsboro Assisted Living in Goldsboro, NC. She was born on April 6, 1923 in Clemtown, WV, a daughter of the late Emery Bennet Haddix and Olive Louisa Mitchell Haddix. Vonda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Freeman.
Vonda attended Highlawns United Methodist Church, volunteered with Baxter Parks and Recreation, was a member of the Baxter Homemakers Club for many years where she served as secretary and treasurer. She was also a member of the Baxter Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, made stuffed animals and bibs for nursing homes.
Vonda is survived by 2 children, Paulette Trimble and Rebecca “Becky” Cole and her husband Rob; her grandchildren, Lora Haun and her husband Ronnie, Leasha Dawn Trimble and Michael Rosier and his wife Karen; and her great grandchildren, Maggie and Jenna Hall.
In addition to her husband and parents, Vonda was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy “Sue” Shapnack; her brothers, George Vernon Haddix, Emmett Haddix, Virgil Ray Haddix and Charles Holbert and her sisters, Lillie Murl Isner and Vada Moore.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second St., Rivesville, WV 26588, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
