Obituary of Christopher Michael Romino
Christopher Michael Romino, 59, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. He was born in Fairmont on December 30, 1965, the son of the late Michael Romino and Joyce Fortney Romino.
Chris is survived by his son, Nathaniel Thomas Romino of Fairmont; sisters, Jeanette Harper and her husband Jim of Fairmont and Jennifer Knight and her husband Bill of Fairlawn, OH; his former wife of 21 years, Kristy L. Romino; six nieces and nephews, James Michael Harper and his wife Michelle, Emily Harper, Michael Knight, Lauren Knight, Allison Fansler McNamara and her husband Conor, and Aaron Fansler and his wife Alex; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sharon Zeck, Chad Bundy, and Jeff Greene.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by a nephew, Adam C. Harper.
Chris worked at the Marion County Assessor’s Office and the West Virginia Assessor’s Office. He also owned Romino Enterprises as a self-employed contractor for over 20 years. Chris was catholic by faith and a 1985 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. He played basketball at Fairmont Catholic and Fairmont Senior High School growing up. Chris enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, camping, and the outdoors. He enjoyed visiting Holly River, Fairmont State basketball, and watching old black and white movies and television shows. Also, Chris had a huge passion for Christmas. Chris was a liver organ recipient. After receiving his transplant in 2022, Chris lived for almost an additional three years with his son by his side. Nathaniel cherished the time he was able to spend with his dad and the memories they made.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Chris’ memory to UPMC Transplant Services, 200 Lothrop St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213-2582.
In accordance with Chris’ wishes, he will be cremated. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Rd., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Deacon David Lester as Celebrant.
