Obituary of David Bryan Morris

David Bryan Morris, 83, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1941 in Masontown, the son of the late Harlan B. and Emily E. McMillen Morris. David is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia R. Kirkpatrick Morris. David was a member of the Centerbranch Church in Bridgeport and a 1959 graduate of Rivesville High School. Upon graduating, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. David was also proud of his business in Bridgeport, as he owned and operated David B. Morris Electric, Inc. for 38 years. He was very active in the community, as he was a member of Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) in the local Scouts BSA Troop 40, where he served as the Assistant Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 40. David was a Civil War enthusiast, as he started and founded the Harrison County Civil War Round Table. He held an instrument rated pilot’s license and enjoyed the fellowship with many of his fellow pilots in the North Central WV Area. David was an avid follower of sports throughout his lifetime and was known by many for his athletic abilities. He was a man of many talents, excellent in any situation, and humble beyond his skills. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his three sons, Dr. Stephen Morris and his companion Bella of Valencia, Philippines, Bryan Morris and his companion Sarah Steele of Clarksburg, and Bradley Morris and his wife Lacie of Bridgeport, his dear foster daughter, Diana Mayle of Florida, his five grandchildren, Aidan, Arthur, Gideon, Dante, and Alexander Morris. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gary Morris of Fairmont and Randy Morris of Cannan Valley, WV, his brother-in-law, David Kirkpatrick and his wife Flori of Washington, DC, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his dear foster son, Willard Jones Jr. “Well done thy good and faithful servant”. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main, Bridgeport. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 4 pm until 8pm and again on Monday, January, 13, 2025 from 11 am until 12 Noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 12 Noon with Pastor Luke Brugger officiating. A service of committal will follow at the WV National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV 26354, where full military honors will be rendered by the Harrison County Honor Guard.
