Obituary of Paul William Davis

Paul William Davis, 79, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born September 29, 1945 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late William Marmaduke and Ruby Ellen McElfresh Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Ann Morris Davis. Paul was a graduate of East Fairmont High School, and a veteran with the United States Army having served as a rifleman in the Vietnam War. Paul was a past member of the Salvation Army Church as well as the Apostolic Christian Temple. Paul served in several job capacities over the years which included working with the Salvation Army in the maintenance department, a gravedigger with Woodlawn Cemetery, and a bartender for many years at the Dakota Tavern and later at Colasessano’s . Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He collected antique cars and trucks throughout his life. He always looked forward to his trips to Ohio to visit his family. He loved to play his guitar and enjoyed watching live music. His greatest joy was spending time with his family as much as possible. Paul is survived by his son, Jefferson and his wife Princess Davis, his daughters, Susan Morris, and Barbara Ellen Davis, all of Fairmont, his grandchildren: Emerald Davis Robe and her husband Steven, Melissa Morris, Steven Morris, Marsha Morris, Robert Abel, Shannon Abel, Daniel Abel, Amber Davis, Brittney Davis, Kayla Davis, Paul Jr. Davis, Brooklyn Quisenberry, and Ashley Davis. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and his brother-in-law, Bob Briggs of Medina, OH. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul William Granville Davis, his granddaughter April Dawn Abel, and his sisters, Nellie Davis Hickman and her husband John, and Dorothy Ellen Davis Briggs. Memorial donations may be made to Paul’s favorite cause, the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 2PM until 4PM and from 6PM until 8PM, and then on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 11AM until 12 noon. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 12 noon with Pastor Bill Toothman officiating.
