Obituary of Alice S. "Allie" Bayne

Alice S. “Allie” Bayne, 102 years old, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully at the Tygart Center Nursing Home in Fairmont, WV on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 with her daughter by her side. She was born on April 17, 1922 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late W. C. and Ethel Steele. Allie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard E. “Dick” Bayne, who passed in 2001, and also by her infant granddaughter, Jennifer Carol Stalnaker, who passed away in 1976. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Stalnaker and son-in-law Lee Stalnaker of Bridgeport, grandchildren, Amy Johnson of Huntington and Nathan Stalnaker of Bridgeport, and great granddaughters, Alaina Jenkins, Kalia Jenkins, and Toni Johnson, all of Huntington. Allie was a faithful member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church for 56 years and active in the United Methodist Women and Thursday Morning Prayer Group. Allie graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1939, attended West Virginia University, and graduated from the Washington D.C. School for Secretaries in 1942. She was employed at the Union National Bank in Clarksburg for 4 years. She was beloved by all her family and a joy to all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made in Allie’s memory to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330, Clarksburg Mission, 312 N 4th St, Clarksburg, WV 26301, or the local Salvation Army, 1010 S Chestnut St, Clarksburg, WV 26301. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. Friends will be received at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10 am until 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the church on Saturday at 11 am with Reverend Dr. Matthew Paugh and Reverend Dale Waters officiating.
