Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" Franklin Bice
Jerry Bice, born on April 18, 1941, passed away peacefully on December 17th 2024, at the age of 83. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, where he built a fulfilling life packed with cherished memories. He was the devoted husband of Nalene Bice with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. Together, they created a loving home and a partnership that inspired all who knew them.
Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, always cheering them on in their endeavors and celebrating their accomplishments. His warmth and encouragement left an indelible mark on their lives.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Radio Intelligence Operator. During his time of service, he was awarded the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals.
Professionally, Jerry was known for his work in banking, where he earned the respect of
colleagues and clients alike. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he did.
Outside of his professional life, Jerry enjoyed his farm, which brought him immense joy. Whether he was riding his 4-wheeler or caring for his animals, he approached life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. Jerry was an active member in his community as he was a proud member of the Bridgeport Lion’s Club, Elks Club, and local Boy Scout leader.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Nalene Bice; his first wife Lourdes Bice, daughter Jeri Bice, sons Mark and Matthew Bice; and his grandchildren, Patrick, Jordan, Garrett, Jacob, Leah, and Olivia. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth and sister Susan and stepchildren Todd and Traci Davis. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Murl and Roy Bice and his brother David Richard (Dick) Bice.
As we remember Jerry, let us reflect on his spirit of generosity and compassion, and carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all that knew him. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, cremation services will occur. A memorial service will be held on January 4th, 2025 at 2 PM at the Saltwell Road Church “Shinns Run Cemetery”, 5079 Saltwell Rd, Bridgeport, WV 26330, with Reverend Thomas Horne officiating.
