Obituary of David L. Yocco Sr.

David L. Yocco Sr., 74, of Stonewood, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Clarksburg. He was born on August 4, 1950 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Sullivan and Angeline Gerrard Yocco. David was a 1968 graduate of Bridgeport High School and attended Fairmont State College. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Lexington in the United States Navy as a radioman. David worked for Union Carbine and as a carpenter for the Carpenter Union. He loved his kids, family, and animals. David had five dogs and eight cats. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing Animal Crossing on the Wii, playing Words with Friends on Facebook, watching Fox News, and drinking sweet tea from McDonald’s. David is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lorean D. Coberly Yocco; his three sons, David Yocco Jr. of Bridgeport, Brandon Yocco of Stonewood, Caldon Yocco of Stonewood; three daughters, Ronnie McEldowney of Clarksburg, Ashley Wolfe and her husband Dale of Stonewood, and Cierra Yocco of Stonewood; his sister, Mary Yocco and her partner Elizabeth Carter of Morgantown eight grandchildren, Matthew McEldowney, Alora Metz, Charles Yocco, Alex Odom, Kallie Wolfe, Madisyn Yocco, Giana Yocco, and Lylianna Yocco; six great-grandchildren, Connor McEldowney, Eli Metz, Bradlee Metz, Matthew McEldowney, Liam McEldowney, and Jaxson Linger; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Tresa Mazzie and Martha Chiado. Memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Road., Shinnston, WV 26431. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from noon until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Thomas Horne officiating. In accordance with David’s wishes, cremation services will occur following the funeral service. A graveside service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV 26354, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
