Obituary of Janet Lynn Moore Wenzel
Janet Lynn Moore- Wenzel, 69, of Rivesville, received her angel wings on Monday, October 28, 2024 at WVU Hospital in Morgantown. She passed away just two days shy of her birthday, which was October 30, 1954 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Harry Thomas and Nola Grace Carr Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orin Joseph Wenzel.
Janet was a 1972 graduate of Rivesville High School and obtained her college degree. She was a member of the McCurdysville United Methodist Church. She retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigations with over 25 years of service as a criminal analyst.
Janet was a “farm-girl” at heart, having grown up on her family farm. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and enjoyed nature, often watching her trail camera for wildlife activity. She loved to read, in so much that she created a library in the shelving up her stairway. She liked to crochet. Most prevalent in her personality, was that “everything was about family”. The center of her world was her daughter Amy, and her grandchildren. She loved to reminisce and tell family stories of the past. Janet was “small, but mighty”, she could conquer any problem that came her way.
Janet is survived by her daughter- Amy Lynn and her husband John Hammond of Barrackville, her grandchildren: Makayla Reckart and her fiancée Jacob, and Bridget Hammond, her great-grandson, Alexander Reckart. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Sue Wenzel and Peggy Wahlen both of Virginia, and her good friend and “soul sister” Jeanie McDaniel.
In addition to her husband and parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brothers: Warren, Irvin, Richard, and David Moore.
