Obituary of Josephine Gearde Pobega

Josephine Gearde Pobega, 101, of Rivesville passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Barbara's Nursing Home in Monongah, WV. Josephine was born in Fairmont, WV on July 13, 1923, a daughter of the late Frank Gearde and Mary Greco Gearde. Josephine is survived by a daughter, Karen Rambo, and her husband John of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her grandaughters Lena and Patsy DeCrescenzo and son-in-law John DeCrescenzo of Truckee, CA, as well as her many beloved nieces and nephews, including Yvonne Liberto who served as her caregiver for the past two years. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter, Marianne DeCrescenzo, brothers, Joe Gearde, Frank Gearde, and David Gearde, and sisters, Agnes Davoli, Elizabeth Husty, and Rose Mary Liberto. Josephine was a 1941 graduate of Rivesville High School and worked for over 60 years as business manager for B.F. Goodrich. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, gardening, decorating her home, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She also volunteered as a poll worker for local, state, and national elections for over 30 years. Pallbearers serving will be: John Rambo, Michael Caputo, Frank Caputo, Sherman Sapp, Jim McCale, Robbie Garcia, and Braylon Garcia. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588, on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12 noon with Deacon David Lester as celebrant. A committal service will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
