Obituary of Patty Myers Wotring

Patty Wotring passed away peacefully at her home in Fairmont on August 19, 2024. She was born October 3, 1955 in Fairmont to the late William "Bill" Myers and Judy Slusser Myers. Patty is lovingly survived by her husband Bob Wotring with whom she was married 49 years ago on July 19, 1975 and they formed a wonderful home for their sons. She is lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law Jeffrey Robert and Lisa Wotring, Mark William and Angie Wotring, and Allan David and Marcie Wotring. Her grandchildren who will never forget the fun times with grandma; Devan and Tyler Moran, Loryn and her fiancé Alex Mayle, Leah and Noah Wotring, and Trevor, Shayla, Whitney, and Alexa Wotring. She is also survived by her siblings Shirley Garvin, Buddy and Marsha Myers, Nancy and Dana Moffa, and Mark and Melanie Myers, her brother and sisters-in-law Bill and Carol Wotring and Jim and Rhonda Wotring. She will also to be remembered by many nieces and nephews who affectionately loved their Aunt Patty. Patty will always be remembered for her caring smile and willingness to care for others before herself. She graduated from Fairmont State University with an RN degree in 1975 and served as a nurse for 40 years at Fairmont General and the Health Department. She loved God and worshiped and served in the Fairmont First Church of the Nazarene. It's where Patty and Bob were raised and taught and as they grew up, they were married there and offered their services there. Patty loved to sing and sang in the choir. She taught Sunday School from Toddlers to Sr. Adults, and she prayed and encouraged all those who knew her. Patty and Bob enjoyed vacationing in WV, Amish Country, Myrtle Beach, and their 10 day cruise to Alaska for their 40th Anniversary. After retiring, many evenings they could be found putting together jigsaw puzzles. She particularly loved puzzle pictures of birds and Amish scenery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of Mon-General Hospital, Care Partners, WV Caring, and Nardelli Audiology for the compassionate care over the last two months. They also appreciate the love and prayers they received in the hundreds of cards and texts during Patty's illness. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 1PM until 8PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Fairmont First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the church on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 11AM with Reverend Andy Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
