Obituary of Claude Dayton Mitchell
Claude Dayton Mitchell, Sr., 73, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. He was born on January 21, 1951 in McCurdysville, a son of the late James and Ruby Kennedy Mitchell. Claude is survived by his loving wife, Linda.
In addition to his wife, Claude is survived by his two sons, Claude Michell, Jr. and his companion Ashley Vincent of Farmington, and John Fox and his wife Brenda of Easton, PA, one daughter, Samantha Gary and her husband Jonathan of Rockwood, TN, and one brother, John Mitchell, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, his nephew, Marion Mitchell Jr. and his wife Tonia and their three children, as well as many more nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Claude is preceded in death by the rest of his siblings.
Claude was a 1970 graduate of Terra Alta High School and served in the National Guard. He enjoyed going to the Moose Club, playing horseshoes, NASCAR races, working on race cars, cutting his grass, and watching football. He greatly enjoyed and loved his grandchildren and dogs.
