Obituary of Videll Elmer Stubbs

Videll Elmer Stubbs, 63, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at his residence. He was born on October 30, 1960 in Dayton, OH, a son of the late John L. and Irene E. Bland Stubbs. Videll is survived by his loving wife, Sandra N. Shannon. Videll was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and attended Fairmont State College. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1982 until 1992, where he served during the Persian Gulf War. After his military service, Videll worked until his retirement as a Correctional Officer with the Tennessee State Department of Corrections. In addition to his wife, Videll is survived by three daughters, Nikki (Charles) Shannon of Nashville, TN, Jasmine Shannon of Millington, TN, and Natisha Shannon of Nashville, TN, one son, Demetre (Courtney) Jones of Millington, TN, three sisters, Margaret (Jay) Holman Jr. of Fairmont, Genevieve (Gary) Freed of Morgantown, and Carolyn (Emerson Harrison) Stubbs of Gastonia, NC, three brothers, Robert Stubbs of Fairmont, John (Martha) Stubbs of Fairmont, and Julian (Robin) Stubbs of San Antonio, TX, six grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Videll was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Stubbs, and two sisters-in-laws, Darlene Stubbs and Beverly Stubbs. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 12 Noon until 2 pm.
