John was indeed a "radio lifer". I learned a lot from him back in 1983 when I was getting started at WTCS. John explained the quirks of the old Gates control board, the workings of the patch panel, and how to replace the "5Z3" tube in the board power supply - which I had to do one time. I saw him infrequently after 1984 but was always glad to hear him on the air someplace. He had quite a career. Peace and Blessings to his family and friends. His voice will live on in various YouTube radio clip uploads.
