Obituary of James "Marty" Johnson

James “Marty” Johnson, age 79, of Fairmont, passed away July 11, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jean, Marty is survived by his wife Sally and three children (Susan, Diana, Bill), eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Daughter: Susan Rogers, her husband Craig; 2 daughters Shannon Rogers, her son Jack; Amanda Norris, husband Aaron, their children Cooper and Rian, all of North Carolina. Daughter: Diana Blackwood, her husband Kenton and daughter Kate of Bridgeport; and Diana's sons: Eli Hawkins and wife Sarah, their children Aedyn and Lilea of Fairmont, Cameron Hawkins and wife Jody, their children Bronson and Palmer of California; Lucas Hawkins and daughter Brooklyn of Florida. And Son: Bill Johnson, wife Gina and children Alishia Fields, husband Bradley and children Levi, Sarah, and Carter; Bill Johnson Jr and son Colton, all of South Carolina. Marty was employed by Westinghouse, served as a Fairmont Firefighter, and retired from the U.S. Post Office as a rural carrier. He was a real character and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his kids and the grands and the greats and losing track of time with his friends. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Marty’s wishes, cremation services will occur. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11 am in the Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating.
