Obituary of Gloria Jean "Jeanne" (Konopko) Mahalick

Gloria Jean “Jeanne” (Konopko) Mahalick, 76, of Rivesville, WV, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at MonGeneral Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born October 15, 1947 in Rivesville, WV, a daughter of the late Chester and Stella Spooner Konopko. She was preceded in death by her husband John Edward Mahalick in 1973. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Fairmont, and a past member of the Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Rivesville. She was a graduate of Annondale High School. She went on to attend Fairmont State College as well as the OIC program in the medical assistant degree. Jeanne most recently worked with WVU Medicine as a clinical assistant and had previously worked over the years with Westinghouse Corporation in Fairmont as a Relief Operator, the Marion County Courthouse in the Mapping Department, the ND Paper Papermill Corporation in Fairmont, the 911 Call Center, and also was a beautician for many years. Jeanne was an outstanding cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved gardening her yard, painting with water colors as well as oils and canvas. She was a meticulous housekeeper, you could literally eat off her floors, and loved spending any time she could with her sons and grandchildren. Jeanne is survived by her three sons, Eddie Mahalick of Rivesville, Dave and his wife Aneisha Mahalick of Morgantown, and Michael Mahalick of Rivesville, her four grandchildren, Isabelle, Sophia, Klayden, and Yash Mahalick, her sister, Dr. Catherine Cain of Springfield, OH, and her brother, Chester and his wife KiKi Konopko of Millington, TN. She is also survived by her close friends, Sharon and her husband Joey Husty of Fairmont, Patty and her husband Jim Summers of Rivesville, her nieces, Allison Kramer of Philadelphia, PA, Tina and husband William “Matt” Matthews of Ankani, Iowa, Wendy and her husband Scott Boggs of Springfield, OH, and Lori and her husband Rich Robinson of Springfield, OH, as well as a host of family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne is also preceded in death by her sister, Linda and her husband Bill Smith, her brother-in-law, Larney Cain, her nephew, Larney Cain, Jr., and her niece Cathy Gonzales. Memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 329 Maryland Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends and family may visit on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 2PM until 4PM and from 6PM until 8PM. The Vigil Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11AM with Father Kishore Varaparla, HGN as Celebrant.
