Obituary of Margery Emerson Bailey

Margery Emerson Bailey, 76, of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born in Fairmont on June 7, 1947, the daughter of the late Clark Elwood and Clarice Leah Hall Emerson. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Lewis and her husband Jason of Perry Hall, MD, and Jennifer Skamangas and her husband Louis of Lewisberry, PA, her brother, Leonard Emerson and his wife Lucille of Garnet Valley, PA, and her grandchildren, Brandon and Allie Lewis, and Matthew and Bethany Skamangas. Margery was a Methodist by faith and was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She would go on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at Fairmont State College. Margery served this area as a social worker for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. She loved the beach, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing “Bridge.” Everyone knew her for her great sense of humor and caring personality. She was a truly devoted friend. The family has requested memorial donations to be made in Margery’s name to the WVU Cancer Institute at 1 Medical Center Dr, Morgantown, WV 26506. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10a.m. until 12 noon. A memorial service will be held for Margery in the funeral home on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 12 noon with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
