Obituary of Raymond "Carl" Hennen

Raymond Carl Hennen of Monumental died peacefully May 28 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. He was born June 15, 1934, at Camp Run, Monongalia County, the first son of the late Earl Bradford and Lela Maude Cumberledge Hennen. He is survived by the love of his life, Naomi Jean “Jeannie” Knight Hennen, to whom he was married for 69 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Jerry Floyd of Auburn, AL, and Pam and Forrest O’Dell Jr. of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Nick and Diana Floyd of Cusseta, AL, Jacob Floyd of Cusseta, AL, Daniel and Naomi Floyd of Okinawa, Japan, Nathan and Daphne Floyd of Madison, AL, Carly and Gabe Jones of Fairmont, Kendall Floyd of Mobile, AL, and Cassidy and Beau Lanz of Fairmont; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Louise Scott of Phoenix, AZ; one sister-in-law, Joyce Hennen of Shippensburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He was known as “Papaw Carl” to many in his church and community. He was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Hennen, in April 2024. He was retired from Good Printers in Bridgewater, VA, and had previously worked for Creative Label and A&P Printing Plant in Fairmont. He was active in Woodmen of the World Fraternal Society for many years. He was a faithful member of South Ridge Church in Fairmont, and had previously attended and served as an elder at both Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church and Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church. Carl was unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and it was evident in every part of his life. Family was very important to him and the loss of our patriarch will leave a huge void. Carl was not highly book educated, but he could build or fix just about anything, including building or supervising the building of three houses - two of his own and one for his daughter. He could take a piece of cardboard and make a perfect size box for anything out of it, and could pack four rooms of furniture in a two-room truck, utilizing every inch of space. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, and his grandsons. Donations may be made to South Ridge Church or a charity of your choice. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4p.m. until 8p.m. and again at the South Ridge Church Fairmont at 1659 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10a.m. until 11a.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11am. with Pastor Justin Wright and Pastor Daniel Carpenter officiating.
