Obituary of Myrlene Provins

Myrlene Jean Hillberry Provins, 95, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born August 13, 1928 in Scenery Hill, P.A., a daughter of the late Russell A. Hillberry and Mabel Johnson Hillberry Engle. She was preceded in death by her husband John Sterling Provins in 1973. Ms. Provins was a member of the Punkin Center Church of Christ and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School in Bentleyville, PA. She retired from Fairmont General Hospital where she worked in the housekeeping department for most of her career. She previously worked with the Drulane Bucket Company in Farmington. Myrlene is survived by her children John S. Provins, Jr. of Fairmont, and Vera L. Jones of Bruceton Mills, her grandchildren: John S. Provins, III of Follansbee, WV, Brandon L and his wife Morgan Provins of Fayetteville, NC, Kelly and her husband Michael Miller of Reedsville, WV, and Shelly and her husband Christopher DeHart of Nashville, TN. and her five great-grandchildren: Opal Provins, Nathan Harmon and his wife Chasity, Jordan Holmes and his wife Krystle, Aven DeHart, and Asher DeHart, as well as eight great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lina “Teen” Rager of Washington, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Myrlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Provins, her brothers, Russell “Dube” Hillberry, and Alden “Bud” Hillberry, Allen Engle and her sister Eva “Tootie” Hillberry. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will be held.
