Obituary of Virginia "Carroll" (Cutlip) Williams

Virginia “Carroll” (Cutlip) Williams, 96, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Harmony Senior Living Center in Morgantown. She was born on July 26, 1927, in Morgantown, the daughter of the late Richard L. and Irene C. Cutlip. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, George E. Williams. Carroll graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1945 and attended the West Virginia Business College. She was a lifelong member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Carroll worked as a Kindergarten Teacher’s Aide at Simpson Elementary School for several years. She was also a member of the Governor Johnson Garden Club, Women’s Club of Bridgeport, and Rachael Chapter #470 O.E.S. She loved her family, church, and her hometown of Bridgeport. She was in her element hosting parties and gatherings, and especially enjoyed her “happy hour” group- Okey, Allie, and Ruth, in her later years. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Childress and her husband John of Morgantown, WV, son, Steve Williams and his wife Anne of Duxbury, MA, 3 grandchildren, Evan Childress, Molly Childress, (Adrian Cortes), and Stephen Williams, as well as two great-grandchildren, Rosemary and Nicolas. The family would like to thank the staff at Harmony in Morgantown including Amber, Laina, Nicole, Danyeal, Jenn, Alyson, Guide, Blaine, Makenzie, Pam, Joyce, Rachel, Grace, Jess, Kaitlyn, Jontae, Libby, Lori, Hannah, Frances, and Kim, for their kindness. A special thanks to all the families at Harmony who have become a part of our own. Memorial contributions may be made in Carroll’s memory to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV. Friends will be received on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 10 am until 12 Noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12 Noon with Reverend Dr. Dale Waters and Reverend Dr. Matthew Paugh officiating.
