Obituary of Rita G Poster

Rita Gay (Cain) Poster, 75, of Fairmont, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 2, 2024. She was born in Fairmont on August 2, 1948. A daughter to the late Carl Rufus Cain and Thelma Maxine Findley Cain. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, John William Poster II. She is survived by her children, John (J) W. Poster III, and Kelly Poster Sanders (David); her grandchildren, Madison and Gavin Sanders who were her world; her sisters, her twin and “womb-mate” Nita Pettigrew (Randy) of Williamstown and Caryn Reeves (Allen) of Fairmont; her brother, Carl Cain (Vicki) of Fairmont; her mother-in-law of 96 years of age, Betty Ice Poster of Fairmont. She is also survived by her DeMoss children by love, Beth, Mary, Richard “Bubs” and Mike Wininger; her in-laws, Diana Hendershot (Jack), Debbie Graham (Damon), and Michael Poster (George’anne); as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Edwina Eddy (Paul), and Sue Collins (Tom). Rita was a 1966 graduate of East Fairmont High School and worked as a trucker and assembly line worker for Philips Lighting in Fairmont. She was a lover of all animals, especially her horses, enjoyed ceramics, and was known for having a green thumb with thriving gardens which attracted many butterflies and birds. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She loved camping trips at Audra State Park with the Seifrit family and enjoyed participating and following drag racing with her husband. Rita accepted everybody for who they were and never knew a stranger her whole life through. The family would like to acknowledge a special thankyou to the healthcare workers for keeping Rita comfortable and the two angels who were there with her son at her passing. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4p.m. until 8p.m. and on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 11a.m. until 1p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1p.m. with Rita’s great-nephew, Reverend Blake A.
