Obituary of Mary Ann Trader Whiting

Mary Ann “Trader” Whiting, 73, of Fairmont, passed away in her home on Monday, April 1, 2024. She was born in Fairmont on December 25, 1950, a daughter to the late James Thomas and Mary Jo “Hall” Trader. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Meredith Whiting, III. She is survived by her brothers, Jimmy (Bonnie) Trader of Ona, WV, and Bobby (Sandi) Trader of Chesapeake, VA, her sister Jane Baker of Fairmont, her nieces and nephews, Joey (Angie) Trader, Jackie (Michelle) Trader, Kenny (Cindy) Baker, Matt (Anne) Baker, Brian (Melissa) Baker, and Corey (Christy) Trader, Jennifer (Jeff) Jenkins, and Melissa (Tony) Moyers, her brother-in-law, John Holcomb, along with several special cousins, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Holcomb. Mary Ann was a Christian by faith, and attended East Fairmont High School. Her faith was important to her, she enjoyed reading scripture and praying. She was an amazing cook and made the best homemade rolls. She enjoyed crafting and participated in many local craft shows with her sister, Kathy. Mary Ann was known for being very ornery and enjoyed encouraging her nieces and nephews to act accordingly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friend and aide, Julie King for the loving care she provided. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 5p.m. until 8p.m. A private graveside committal will be held at a later time at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairmont.
