Obituary of Rose Ellen Douglas

Rose Ellen Douglas, 86, of Wallace, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at her residence. She was born on February 25, 1938 in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Howard B. and E. Lousie Thompson Brinkley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David L. Douglas. Rose was a proud 1956 graduate of Bridgeport High School. She retired as a Switchboard Operator from the Summit Center in Clarksburg after over 20 years of service. Rose will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sonja L. King, four grandchildren, Sean D. Snyder and his wife Samantha, Patricia A. Ferguson and her husband Aaron, Rose E. Stone and her husband Tommy, William D. Douglas II and his fiancé Samantha Hesson, and Eva A. Douglas, as well as seven great grandchildren, Cameron Snyder, Ashton Snyder, Brenton Snyder, Destiny Snyder, and James Swiger, Carter Stone, and Ari Ferguson. In her spare time, Rose enjoyed reading, watching television, traveling, gardening, and spending time outdoors. For many years, she worked for the Jerry Lewis M.D. Telephon Fundraiser, where she generously donated her time and effort. She was also proud to start and play on the Summit Center Softball Team. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her son, William D. Douglas, brother, Howard J. Brinkley, and granddaughter Clarissa Douglas. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Friends will be received on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10 am until 12 Noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 12 Noon with Pastor Todd Syruws officiating. A service of committal will follow in the Bridgeport Masonic Cemetery.
