Obituary of William David Whaley
William David Whaley, 81, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. He was born in Fairmont on April 11, 1942, a son of the late Jeryl Francis Whaley and Eleanor Lucille Leddy Whaley.
William is survived by his four children, Athena Rodeheaver of Terra Alta, William David Whaley II and his companion Michele Crandall of Fairmont, Patricia Ann Marsh and her husband David of Oakland, MD, and Joseph Brian Whaley of Fairmont; six grandchildren, David Marsh III and his wife Sophi, Matthew Marsh, Caleb Marsh, Victoria Marsh, Olivia Marsh, and Moriah Marsh; five great-grandchildren, Emma Bernard, David Marsh IV, Daniel Marsh, Jonathan Marsh, and Jackson Marsh; his companion, Patricia Anderson; former Wife, Nancy Jane Whaley; sister-in-law, Cora Kesling; caregiver, Amanda Reckart; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wives, Carole Ann Currey Whaley and Sharon Sue Huffman Whaley Tucker; brothers, Jerry Whaley and Pete Whaley; niece, Melissa Linker; nephew, Timothy Hayes; and a sister-in-law, Betty Whaley.
William was a graduate of Monongah High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist at FMT-EIMCO. William was very social and enjoyed cars, motorcycles, going to VFW Post 573, American Legion Post 13, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No 2353. He also enjoyed traveling and talking to people about the places he had visited. William loved giving treats to his granddog Daisy and grandcats Zoey and Boey.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E. Main St., Bridgeport, WV 26330, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Marsh officiating. A committal service will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Harrison County Honor Guard.
