Obituary of John "Duck" William Poster

John “Duck” William Poster, 93, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2016. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family. John was born on April 4, 1923 in Watson. He worked for Consolidated Coal Company for 43 years. He loved hunting, fishing and cheering on his Steelers and Pirates. John was a hardworking man who was proud of his family. He is the son of the late Samuel and Antonette Julian Poster. John is survived by his wife, Betty Ice Poster. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 16, 2016. John is also survived by his son, John Poster II, wife Rita of Fairmont; daughter, Diana Hendershot, husband Jack of Fairmont; daughter, Deborah Graham, husband Damon of Plum Run; Son, Michael Poster, wife George ‘anne of Farmington. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Shawn Hendershot, fiancé Tori Streets and three children of Grafton; Christy Conaway, husband Smoke and three children of Mannington; John W. Poster III of Fairmont; Erik Poster,wife Amanda and two children of Farmington; Kelly Sanders, husband David and two children of Fairmont; Chelsea Haymond, husband Larry and four children of Farmington; Ryan Poster, wife Cassi and two children of Farmington; Payge Shuck, husband Zac and two children of Monongah; Shelby Pierce, husband Matt and two children of Farmington; Ashley Graham of Plum Run as well as his sisters-in-law, Katherine Poster of Fairmont and Betty Poster of Scotts Depot. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by four brothers, Tony Poster, wife Christine, Dominick Poster, Joe Poster, wife Elinor and Louis Poster. He is loved and will be sadly missed by his family. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Monday, December 12, 2016, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Scott Pacifico officiating.
