Obituary of William "Bill Sr." Edward Wilson

William (Bill Sr.) Edward Wilson was born February 18, 1929, in Opekiska, WV and passed away on January 5, 2024. William was the last survivor of the six children born to Edward and Leona Phillips Wilson. Bill served in the US Navy aboard the USS Chukawan (AO 100) during the World War II Period. He enjoyed the electrical, automotive, mechanical, and heating and cooling trades. Bill was preceded in passing by his wife of almost 71 years, Doris Jean Wilson and his son, Terry Lee Wilson who was 69. Bill is survived by his son, William (Bill Jr.) of Texas; two brothers, Dennis and Larry Wilson and their children, Katie, Tyler, and Autumn of Montana Mines, WV. Mourning his passing are three nephews, Richard Wilson, Douglas Wilson, and Matthew Wilson; three nieces, Donna Nestor, Diane Spagnolo, and Cathy Spagnolo and their adopted brother and sister, David and Anne Spagnolo. Bill had three grandchildren, Andrea Denson, Brian Wilson, and Cameron Wilson all of Texas. His great-grandchildren include Elizabeth, Kharys, Kaylei, and Kullen, of Texas and Ezra and Elias of Arkansas. The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center, VA Nursing Facility, and WVU Medicine Hospice for their care and compassion. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated and buried at Pisgah Cemetery on Rt. 73, alongside that of his wife Doris and son Terry Lee.
