Obituary of Fay Robert Heston
Fay Robert Heston, 82, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at the Tygart Center of Genesis Healthcare in Fairmont. He was born October 19, 1941 in Fairmont a son of the late Fay William and Emma Virginia Bowman Heston. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Lou Shreves Heston on December 23, 2018.
Mr. Heston was a veteran with the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War with the 46th Combat Engineers as an equipment operator. He spent his career as a mechanic, serving alongside his brother-in-law and friend, Millard Mayles, at Leon Sharp’s Esso Station on Speedway Avenue and later at Prickett’s Fort Exxon until his retirement. Fay had a green thumb and could grow anything and everything, he enjoyed watching things grow. He loved animals, and had an extensive list of animals he owned and worked with throughout his life, including: horses, cows, chickens, dogs, a monkey, an alligator, many fish, hermit crabs, and gerbils, and especially the numerous canaries he owned over the years.
Fay is survived by his sons, David J. Heston of Fairmont, and William Robert (Andrea) Heston of Millersville Community, his grandchildren, Kane Heston, David Worthington, Brianna Dixon, Daniel Dixon, and Dana Dixon of Fairmont, his great granddaughter, Brinleigh Cobb, and his sister, Emma Jean Mayles of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his close cousins, Billy Heston, Jimmy Heston, Gloria Sypolt, Elaine Heston, Cherly Butcher, Bob and Dana Clark, Donna Kisner, Kathy Jett, Clyde Heston, Gary Heston, and Melissa Heston.
In addition to his wife, Fay was preceded in death by his brothers, William Junior Heston and Richard Thomas Heston, and his sisters, Lela Heston, Letha Kisner, and Lillian Collins, and his cousins, Kevin Kisner and Roger Heston.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 4PM until 8PM. A graveside committal service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1PM at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont with the Marion County Veterans Council providing graveside military rites.
