Obituary of Marcella Hoylman (Lomas)

Marcella Hoylman (Lomas) passed away in her home surrounded by family on December 7, 2016. Visitation will be held at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, West Virginia on Friday, December 9 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 5:30 - 8:00 pm. There will be a prayer service held in the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. with Reverend Junius Lewis officiating. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at Saint Spirydon Greek Orthodox Church in Clarksburg, WV followed by the burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont. Marcella was born in Clarksburg, WV to Mike and Mary Lomas on February 20, 1928. She attended Washington Irving High School where she met her cherished husband of sixty-six years, Don Hoylman. They both graduated from business school in Fairmont, WV. Marcella worked as an accountant at Industrial Resources until she left to stay home with her youngest child. She worked as an accountant at Industrial Resources for many years with Don, who later became the President and CEO of Industrial and Victory WV. Marcella’s joy was spending time with her lifetime partner, Don, and her children. Marcella fully embraced her Greek heritage. She lived in Chios Greece for several years with her grandmother where she was stranded for a short time at the outbreak of WWII before returning to Clarksburg. She spoke fluent Greek and loved the traditions of Greece and the Greek Orthodox Church. She was a lifetime member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox, 1010 Factory St. in Clarksburg, WV. She also was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Fairmont, WV. Marcella was an accomplished decorator and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Don. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Mary Lomas (Skendelas), and sisters Angeline Voxakis of Pompano Beach, Florida and Sarah Ice of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Don, her children, Steve Hoylman (Mary) of Pompano Beach, Florida; Donna Hoylman Peduto (Guy) of Fairmont and Rod Hoylman (Rebecca) of Parkersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Stephanie Hoylman Sparacio of Tracy City, Tennessee, Lindsay Vaughn of Atlanta, Georgia, Nicholas Hoylman of Atlanta, Georgia, and Grant Hoylman of Parkersburg, WV. Marcella is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Eliot, Mason, and Conor Sparacio of Tracy City, Tennessee and Manning Vaughn of Atlanta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church at PO Box 4176, Clarksburg, WV 26302. Arrangements are under the direction of Ford Funeral Home.
