Obituary of Valinda Lee Hartman

Valinda Lee Hartman, 67, of Grant Town, WV passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 in the Fairmont Medical Center. She was born on December 9, 1955 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Helen Louise Pierce. She is survived by her loving husband, Carl James Hartman. Valinda was a member of Reynoldsville Baptist Church and a 1974 graduate of Liberty High School. Upon graduating, she attended West Virginia Business College. She also worked as a nurse’s aid in the local correctional facilities and nursing homes. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. In addition to her husband, Valinda is survived by four brothers, Charles O’Dell Jr. of Morgantown, Issac O’Dell, Jeremy (Misty) O’Dell, and Jason (Shaila) O’Dell; and one sister, Francie (Bruce) Grimes of Shinnston and by three stepsons, Jonathan (Autumn) Hartman of Morgantown, Mike (Wendy) Hartman of Fairmont, and James (Melvarna) Hartman of Grant Town. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews, Cyndi (Simon) Lane, Tyler O’Dell, Christian O’Dell, Jason O’Dell, Brandon O’Dell, and Shahil O’Dell; two great nieces and nephews, Sabrina Baker and Wayne Baker Jr.; as well as two aunts, Priscilla Pierce and Alice Greathouse. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by one nephew, Chad Grimes. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. There will be no public visitation or funeral.
