Obituary of Sue Ann Boyce
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Sue Ann Boyce. Sue passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 27th.
Sue is survived by her daughters Kimberly Kay Curl, Kandace Sue Fox, and Tammy Marie (Rob) Tucker, five grandchildren Joseph (Ella) Tucker, Sarah Tucker, Jessica Fox, Joshua Curl, and Kelsey Curl. She was preceded in death by her husband Yvon and three siblings.
She was a retired teacher in Marion County schools. She spent most of her teaching years at Rivesville Elementary where she taught 3rd grade. According to Sue, third grade was the best year to teach. She would always say “the students were old enough to take care of themselves, but young enough to still think their teacher was wonderful”. Sue was a lover of cooking shows and a collector of cookbooks. She was known for her comfort foods and so many other memorable recipes.
Sue was a long-time member of the Baptist Temple in Fairmont, WV and joined the Scioto Ridge UMC in Hilliard, OH following her move to Columbus several years ago.
Her daughters and grandchildren have many fond memories of their beloved mother and grandmother. Great times at the beach, cooking, baking, and playing games were shared together over the years. We smile as we recall her referring to herself “as a tough old bird” and will forever hold close her wise words of “go to sleep, everything will be better tomorrow”.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 12pm until 2 pm. The memorial service will occur at 2pm in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Holley Faulkner officiating. The service of committal will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fairmont, WV.
