Obituary of Margaret Ellen Carr

Margaret Ellen Carr, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in North Carolina on Monday, September 18, 2023. She was born on December 21, 1931, a daughter of the late Louis Andrew Emmel and Margaret Helen Emmel. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Darlene Susan Lash and her husband David and her grandson, David Lee Ledsome II. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Truman Carr; second husband, Charles Joseph Levelle; brothers, Carl Andrew Emmel and Junior Garfield Emmel; and her sister, Betty Palmer. Margaret was a graduate of Shinnston High School where she was very active in sports and cheerleading. She was a member of Boothsville United Methodist Church and formerly was a charter member of White Rock Community Church. Margaret worked for over 40 years at Westinghouse and Philips Lighting. Following her retirement, Margaret also worked at Sam’s Club, Stone & Thomas, and for Albert Galatin Home Health Services. She was a volunteer at Fairmont General Hospital and the United Way. Margaret was a member of Country Club Fitness Center and enjoyed walking and spending time with her family, friends, and church family. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 4 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Michael Richards officiating.
