Obituary of Robert Allan Kurczak

Robert Allan “Bob” Kurczak, 73, of Rivesville, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was born September 7, 1950, a son of the late Joseph and Betty Williams Kurczak. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joyce Balderson Kurczak. Bob had attended both Rivesville and Highlawns United Methodist Church. He was a 1968 graduate from Fairmont Senior High School and attended Fairmont State College. Bob retired from the Federal #2 Coal Mines after serving 40 years. Bob was on the Safety Committee at Federal #2 and was also a member of the UMWA. Bob loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing with his friends, hiking and kayaking with his son, Rob, and traveling with his wife, Joyce. Bob loved to spend time with his close friends and family, going on daily walks with his four-legged friend, Kratos, and was a Cub Scout Leader. Bob enjoyed the craft of wine making and the spirit of sharing with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Chad Davidson of Fairmont, his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jessica Kurczak of Rivesville, his granddaughters, Hayley Davidson and her fiancé Matthew Stoddart of Fairmont, Chloe Davidson of Fairmont, Harper and Aubrey Kurczak of Rivesville, and his great-grandson, Lenyx Stoddart. Bob is also survived by his sister, Debbie Shipman of Tennessee, his sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Jeff Morrison, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Kurczak, his father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Barbara Balderson. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hagans Church, 1637 Hagans Road, Core, WV 26541 and the Marion County Humane Society, 864 Husky Hwy, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends and family are invited to visit on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Rivesville Community Building, 200 Jasper Street, Rivesville, WV from 10AM until 11AM.
