Obituary of Evelyn JoAnn Morris Walker
Evelyn JoAnn Morris Walker, 80 years old of Fairmont died Saturday, November 12, 2016, following an extended illness. She was born November 6, 1936, to the late Millard Morris and the late Gayle (McCoy) Morris Boleratz.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. William N. Walker, Jr., one son, Stephen M. Walker, with his wife, Eve, and sons, David Andrew and Kyle Young Walker, and one sister, Mary Lou, her husband, Richard Mitchell, of Clarksburg and their 7 children Richard, Ann, Suzy, Daniel, Julia, Lori, and Jane.
JoAnn was also stepmother to 6 children, Patricia Walker Williams of Morgantown, Elizabeth Walker and her husband Doyle R. Sickles, Dorothy Walker Cooper, William and his wife Barbara Walker, Thomas and his wife Diane Walker, all of Bridgeport, and the late Janet Walker Gilmore, along with being Nana (“Banana”) to 12 step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
JoAnn began her career as a nurse at St Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg after graduating from St. Mary’s Nursing School. Then she began a long career as a nurse anesthetist graduating with the first class of nurse anesthesia from St Mary’s Hospital, Clarksburg, and worked at St. Mary’s, UHC, and Fairmont General.
JoAnn with her husband, Bill, were founding members of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be celebrated at Christ Episcopal Church, 123 South 6th Street, Clarksburg, WV, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.
