Obituary of Ernest Clyde Richards

Ernest Clyde Richards, 74, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born December 5, 1948 in Clarksburg, WV a son of the late Burl and Lovie Cross Richards. Mr. Richards was raised in his family church at Midway Apostolic Church. He retired with over 25 years of service with the Bridgeport Sanitation Department where he served as a sanitation engineer. Clyde was a good family man, he loved his kids and adored his grandchildren. He was kind to everyone and never met a stranger. He loved to sit and talk to people with a good cup of coffee. He enjoyed many local restaurants including Heavenly Desserts, Dairy Queen, and his daily trip to McDonalds. Clyde is survived by his son, Ernest C. Richards, II of Kingwood, WV, his daughter, Holly Echard and her life partner Vicky Messenger of Bridgeport, his step-son whom he raised as his own, Eric Quinn of Ohio, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his sister, Diane Devericks, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and best friend, Brenda Kay Quinn Richards, as well as several brothers. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. In accordance with his wishes, private cremation services will be held.
