Obituary of Gilbert Lee Beamer

Gilbert Lee Beamer, 92, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Taylor Healthcare Center. He was born on April 29, 1931, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Salathiel Guy and Caddie Beamer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Hilda (Gower) Beamer. Gilbert was a 1949 graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School and earned an associate degree in Drafting at Salem University. He was a member of Bridgeport Baptist Church and most recently attended Bridgeport Free Methodist Church, and proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Consolidated Natural Gas Company for 37 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was proud of his Ranger boat, having fond memories of his time in the Appalachian Bass Masters Club. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. He was most proud of being father and grandfather, as he never missed an event or activity. They always knew no matter what they needed he would be there whether it be taking them to school or just sitting and talking about life’s challenges. On a fall Friday night, Gilbert could be found at Wayne Jamison Field, as he was a proud member of the “Friday Night Fraternity”, where he enjoyed watching Bridgeport football. He was also a member of the Late Lodge No. 63 A.F. & A.M, Bridgeport, WV. Gilbert is survived by two daughters, Terri Cross and her husband John of Mount Claire, WV, and Andrea Bartlett and her husband Terry of Flemington, WV. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Miranda Trader and her significant other, Drex Rhoades, Krista Bartlett and her significant other Sha Mikeals, and Brandon Bartlett and his wife Shaniah, one great grandchild, Patrick Aucremanne, and two grandchildren by marriage, Mason Cross and Ashley Skiles. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he cherished. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Walls. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the loving care of the nurses and staff at Taylor Healthcare Center and Amedisys Hospice. He loved them all! God Bless You! Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Friends will be received on Friday, June 16th from 5 pm until 8 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10 am with Pastor Jeff Stalnaker officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
